Biographie
**Aindrita Ray** (born April 4, 1985) is an Indian actress and model known for her work primarily in Kannada cinema, along with appearances in Bengali and Hindi films. Celebrated for her vibrant screen charm, dancing ability, and emotive performances, she established herself as one of the leading female stars of Sandalwood during the late 2000s and 2010s. Born in Udaipur, Rajasthan, into a Bengali family, Ray relocated across various Indian cities due to her father’s service as a prosthodontist in the Indian Air Force before settling in Bengaluru. She completed her schooling at Baldwin Girls' High School and studied dental science at Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Dental College in Bengaluru. While in college, she pursued part-time modeling, appearing in numerous print and television commercials before transitioning toward full-time screen acting. Ray made her acting debut in the Kannada romantic drama *Meravanige* (2008) opposite Prajwal Devaraj, earning praise for her natural screen presence. Her major career breakthrough arrived the following year in Yogaraj Bhat's critically acclaimed romantic drama *Manasaare* (2009). Her sensitive portrayal of Devika, a young woman residing in a psychiatric rehabilitation facility, won her widespread critical acclaim, the Suvarna Film Award for Best Actress, and her first nomination for the Filmfare Award for Best Actress in Kannada. She subsequently consolidated her stardom through a string of commercially viable releases and versatile roles. Notable projects include S. Narayan's action drama *Veera Parampare* (2010) alongside Sudeep, Yogaraj Bhat's *Paramathma* (2011) opposite Puneeth Rajkumar, where her turn as an obsessive lover earned her the SIIMA Award for Best Supporting Actress, and the romantic comedy *Parijatha* (2012). She also delivered a widely appreciated performance in the action fantasy hit *Bhajarangi* (2013) opposite Shiva Rajkumar, earning another Filmfare nomination. Beyond Kannada cinema, Ray expanded her footprint into other languages. She made her Bengali debut in the commercial hit *Bachchan* (2014) opposite Jeet, followed by *Amar Aponjon* (2017), and later made her Hindi feature debut in Hardik Gajjar's drama *Bhavai* (2021) opposite Pratik Gandhi. In December 2018, she married her longtime partner and frequent co-star Diganth Manchale after a decade-long relationship. Balancing contemporary regional cinema, web series, and passionate animal welfare advocacy, she remains a prominent and well-regarded personality in the South Indian film landscape.
